The centre of each piece is beautifully decorated with a script letter ''E'' in gilt surrounded by a be ribboned wreath in apple green enamels highlighted with gilt flowers; the rim in stylised swags in green & gilt. Base with matt orange/buff firing marks. This dinner service was given to Esther Priestman, daughter of Henry Tuke on her marriage in 1819 (Esther was born in 1782 & died in 1857) . The giver was Favill James Copsie (1788-1847). Esther gave the service to her niece Esther Tuke (1823-1874). She in turn gave it to her niece Edith Wilhelmina Tuke (1858-1952) who gave it to her great niece Evelyn Vowe (1925- ). All that remains of this fine service are now offered:'' (The matching tureen, cover and stand from this service were sold at this Saleroom Lot 351 6th December 2013 for £650) Condition Report : Over all the sauce boats appear sound though with some areas of minor wear and tear conducive with age and use throughout. The handles are hollow and have a hole to the interior at the back which may or may not be part of the original design as both have a hole in the same area though it is a fairly rough hole. There are other areas of minor chipping/fritting particularly to the base of the handles in both cases and wear to the bases of both. Minor firing faults and blemishes throughout
